Great post.

@Mohit Soni - if you are hosting your own instant of Wordpress I would recommend the WP Super Cache plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/
I use this and it works really well.

If you have a dedicated server you can't beat Aptimize, we use it on our 3 corporate sites and intranet and it automates good optimization practice - it saved us a lot of time in manual optimization.

We are definitely experiencing a higher level of user interaction and satisfaction since increasing our page load times.

If you are self hosting wordpress, look into using a PHP opcode cache, like APC or Eaccelerator. These are
code caches, they don't cache data, objects or HTML, but they do seem to cut page generation times in half by cutting down app initialization overhead on each request.

On pages with a lot of components, initial page load time is just part of overall load time, but nothing else can get started until the it is served.

Great tip. Looking forward to see if you see any changes on the visitor conversion. By the way Google doesn´t care if your site is heavy (unless the response time is like aroud 80s. Matt Cutts posted an video answer about that question a month or so.
